February 28, 2011 Added/ removed sites to Sound Bites page and finished checking links on all other pages on the Resources page. I hope these edits hold for awhile. December 30, 2010 Fixed or added a couple of applets; removed links to others. December 8, 2010 Updated more page links in the Resources pages. Got about seven more pages to check out. July 6, 2010 File this under "Well, Isn't That Special?" SiteBuilder Classic is being discontinued. What that means is, once again, I'll have remake this website. I've been able to download the latest version of SiteBuilder which I previously didn't have access. Not doing so would have meant I couldn't edit any pages nor test any scripts or applets on my little Homestead site. So now, way behind the curve from lots of other Homesteaders, I can revise instructions gradually on many pages here including my greeting on this page. Yea, eh? While I re-check links on the resources pages, I'll be also familiarizing myself with the "new" SiteBuilder in the coming weeks and months. July 4, 2010 Happy 4th of July, America! Pages in the Resources section are here, but still need some work -- updating sources and links. April 11, 2010 Double whew! The JavaScript demos that were on the original Rambling Scripts pages are now completed and updated where it was needed. April 9, 2010 Whew! Worked like mad the past two days and nights to finish most of the content offered on the Tips &Tutorials page. On to the JavaScript Demos and the Resources pages. April 7, 2010 Completed the last applet listed on the page. Will be moving on to completing the scripts, tips and resources pages. April 3, 2010 Added a neat applet demo which completes the image applets with user-supplied graphics section. March 30, 2010 Added another completed applet page. Some applets will be changed or eliminated completely because source files and/ or websites cannot be found anymore. Active pages have active links. February 24, 2010 Ever get into blah moods? I've found every excuse in the books not to resume updating this site, from a new dog (December) to new games to try out (January) to the Olympics (February). So now I'm resuming the process after I saw there are still visitors finding this site four months after Yahoo deleted it from our old home at Geocities. While I'm changing Geocities links, I'm cleaning up the nested tables laden pages. Then later this year I hope to change out the graphics and get away from the pinks. So, I continue to appreciate your patience with me. December 31, 2009 Although the site is not completed, I wanted to put up some of the pages on this site by year's end. More pages will be uploaded next month. Any page not loaded will come up as an error. I appreciate your patience in this move. Happy new year! If it does stay open, you will be able to find this site as www.ramblingtutor.com No matter what. July 10, 2009 Geocities to close web hosting business on October 26, 2009. April 28, 2009 Big News! Last week Yahoo announced that they will be closing the Geocities webhosting later this year. I was in the middle of changing the web pages (100+ of them) on this site. Now, I need to decide whether or not to continue it elsewhere or at all. More news to come as I consider my options. January 29, 2009 Alright...so I fixed another thing. The source for Ibon Tolosana's Snow Applet file is updated since he no longer has his own web site anymore. December 5, 2008 Okay, so I couldn't resist. I've updated the article on FTP at Homestead because some things have changed since I first published the page in 2004. November 15, 2008 It's been a long, long time since I've updated or created new content for this site. Because of that, I'm going to discontinue maintaining this site as one for helping Homestead users. The Rambling Tutor will remain at Geocities, but as a different site. October 18, 2006 Finally getting around to finishing up some Java applet demos and updating some pages there, too. Latest applet demo completes the snow series shown. September 8, 2006 New important poll below. Help decide whether or not a forum will be added to this web site. It'll be a hosted one with ads but it may help some of you with your web-mastering questions, whether you use Homestead or not. It'll be web master to web master help, because I'd like everyone to help each other. I'll have the poll up for about two months, so start voting! June 21, 2006 First of all, happy summer solstice day! I know it's been quite a long time since I've done anything on this site and I apologize. Some things, like taking care of home life (hubby & pets) and going to baseball games, takes precedence over updating a web site, especially one that does not generate any income. That aside, I've made available 10 fortune cookie scripts adapted from a quotes script from Bravenet. You can either download the zip file or copy-and-paste all 10 scripts. First, however, look at the main instruction page for how to put it on your Homestead page. You'll find the link to the 10 scripts on that page. Feb. 23, 2006 Reviewed links on web graphic sources page and removed invalid links. No new links added to replace those removed. Jan. 23, 2006 Added new sites to the free photo sources page and deleted a site that is no longer available. Other pages on this site will be updated when I find the time. Nov. 16, 2004 Because a lot of the visitors here are searching for snow scripts, I've adapted Kurt Grigg's Autumn Leaves script, which works in Mozilla Firefox, to use snowflakes. I've previously shown you how to use flowers and cookies graphics with the script. Click here to go to the demo page. Nov. 12, 2004 The JavaScript Demos page is complete now as far as the listed offerings go. As time permits me, I'll be scouring script sites to find more that will work in SiteBuilder and multiple browsers. Nov. 2, 2004 A couple of new services on this site: 1) link to TrendMicro's HouseCall virus scanner and 2) TrendMicro's list of the latest viruses and other nasties that could hit your computer. Sept. 7, 2004 Added another free HTML editor to the list that you may want to check out. Features some of the more useful functions to help you create a great site including CSS and PHP wizards. July 7, 2004 Added a note to some of the JavaScript/ DHTML scripts regarding Mozilla Firefox functionality. June 22, 2004 Well, Homestead has finally done it. They served a popup ad on my adjunct Rambling Tutor site hosted with them. They've always only had the bottom frame. When did this change happen? May 15, 2004 Finally, all pages on this web site are consistent in appearance and navigation. Removed all links to the old forum, all graphics are the same, page layouts are basically similar, and removed more links that are no longer valid. Now to get working on the tutorials from GrumpyDog aka The Wizard. May 11, 2004 Added two Java applet demos: WuPixels and UFO-Oh. May 1, 2004 Added a little poll and had to change the newsfeed source as Moreover discontinued the free service. Prior to this I added some new content and went through existing ones to make sure they were still current. As I promised earlier, I'll be working on more content. The tutorials from GrumpyDog are being re-done by me as he has deleted his website. He has graciously allowed me to copy his work to put on this site. Thanks Grumpy! |
