| Online Xara3D Header Maker & Converting PNG to GIF Using IrfanView >>> |
Note: You do not have to be a Windows user to use this header maker! Instructions for Using Xara3D Header Maker It's easy to create your own 3D header graphic right here. Please note these graphics are created in the .png format which is supported in SiteBuilder but not all browsers view .png graphics, so keep that in mind. Below these instructions I've included how to convert .png to .gif using IrfanView, a free image viewer and editor for Windows systems. 1) Type in your text (don't worry about the Preview popping up). 2) Choose your text size. 3) Choose your text style. 4) Choose your color. 5) Right-click to save your graphic to your hard drive. Below are headers I made with Xara 3D and converted with IrfanView. For instructions on using IrfanView to convert the graphics, see further below.
Using IrfanView to Convert Xara 3D Images You can download a free IrfanView program here at CNet. 1) Open IrfanView program. 2) Click on File -> Batch Conversion. 3) In the next window on the right-hand side, look In your hard drive for the saved .png graphics. 4) Below that window, select all file types and click on the graphic(s) you want to convert. Those files will appear on the top left Files box. 5) Select the Output option, which is where in your hard drive you want the converted files to be placed. 6) Now on the left side below the Files box, select the Output type of .GIF (CompuServe GIF). Click on Options. 7) Put a check mark in Save Transparent Color and enter 64 in the box next to Set the transparency value to palette entry. 64 is for the color black. My graphics had a black background. To make the background transparent, you have to select the color that you want made transparent. If the black background is okay, then don't use the option. For my first example, the background doesn't have to be transparent for a black page; it does for any other color. But my second example, a black background looks weird with a graphic that has a drop shadow effect, so a transparent background works best. It also works best on a page with a white background. |
